Open Play

Open play is pickleball's actual format: paddle on the rack, four on, four off, and a rotation that means you will play with everyone there before lunch. It is the most sociable thing in adult sport and the least organised, and the identity it produces is completely different from a league team. These designs are the ones about the social contract rather than the result: the round afterwards, the person who brings the interesting cans and explains them unprompted, the kitchen argument that never resolves. Wear it to the Saturday morning session where nobody knows your last name and everybody knows your third shot.
