Cotton or polyester: the only decision that matters here
Combed cotton is smoother than standard jersey because the short fibres are removed before spinning, which is why these do not feel scratchy at the neck and why they hold a print cleanly. It breathes well, it gets better with washing, and it absorbs sweat rather than moving it, so it gets heavier and stays damp through a long match. Performance polyester does the opposite: it moves moisture to the outside of the fabric where it can evaporate, so the shirt stays close to the weight it started at. Cotton is the better shirt to own. Polyester is the better shirt to compete in. Each product page states which fabric it is, and the moisture-wicking range collects the polyester ones on their own if that is all you are after.
